Exemption from compulsory English language classes at the BUT Doctoral School

According to the Regulations of the Doctoral School of the Bialystok University of Technology, doctoral candidates may apply for an exemption from compulsory English language classes on the basis of a valid language certificate. The exemption applies only to the compulsory English language courses included in the SDPB curriculum.

Procedure for obtaining the exemption:

  • The doctoral candidate completes the appropriate  Application for exemption from English classes
  • Together with a valid language certificate (confirming English proficiency at a minimum level of B2), the doctoral candidate submits the application to the Foreign Language Centre (SJO).
  • The Head of the Foreign Language Centre at BUT verifies the document and confirms its compliance with the requirements
(Annex No. 9 to the SDPB Regulations).
  • The signed application should then be submitted to the Doctoral School Secretariat of BUT by 29 May 2026.
  • The final decision regarding the exemption is made by the Director of the Doctoral School.

Note: A doctoral candidate interested in continuing the exemption from English language classes should submit an Application for continuation of the exemption. In the case of continuation, it is not required to attach the language certificate again. Failure to submit the application means continuation of participation in classes in accordance with the study programme.
