Value Based Education And Universal Human Values<\/strong><\/p>\n To live in harmony and peace is one of the basic aspirations of a human being. Basic human values are those at the core of being a human. However, unlimited desire towards accumulation of wealth, fame and power has side-lined the basic virtues and the essence of being a human being. Human beings consider ourselves to be on top of the food chain and therefore tend to ignore the livelihood and dependency on other species and the nature. Such ignorance ultimately affects oneself. Further, the purpose of education is to inculcate values to care for other life-forms and nature in addition to providing skills that are necessary for survival and co-existence.<\/p>\n First part of the lecture session will cover discussions on topics related to value education, human values and the need for inclusion of such value-based education in the mainstream education system.
