Dear Doctoral Students,
From October 20 to 24, 2025, the Open Science Week will take place — an event organized as part of the collaboration within the ACROSS European University Alliance in Cross-Border Regions.
The goal of this initiative is to promote the idea of Open Science – an approach that supports transparency in research, collaboration, and broad accessibility of scientific results.
We especially encourage doctoral students of the Doctoral School to take part in the following event:

Prof. Maciej Żylicz
Biochemist and molecular biologist, long-time President of the Foundation for Polish Science (2005–2025), expert in heat shock proteins and their role in DNA repair, proteolysis, and tumor transformation. Published in renowned scientific journals. Former member of the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN) and the European Research Council (ERC).
Prof. Marek J. Druzdzel
Expert in decision support systems, Bayesian networks, and probabilistic computing. Alumnus of TUD Delft and PhD graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Co-developer of GeNIe and SMILE software used in decision and probabilistic modeling. Formerly at the University of Pittsburgh, currently affiliated with Bialystok University of Technology.
Moderator: Prof. Krzysztof Kurzydłowski
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, expert in materials and mechanical engineering, with extensive scientific achievements and experience in science management.
